Jonathan Edwards - Calvinist and committed to evangelism and known among the young people


The Second Great Awakening

1790 known for the great camp meeting - Age of Reason

1795 The Yale Revival - Timothy Dwight- Committed to biblical inspiration, Pres. of Yale

Camp Meeting movement began with the Red River Revival with two Presbyterian ministers from North Carolina.


 The Third Great Awakening

1792 to 1875 - Charles Finney

Credited for the public invitation


The Fourth Great Awakening

The Sunday School Revival of the 1820's to the Early 1840's

This gave way to the City Revivals


The Fifth Great Awakening

1901 to 1930

Bega with a group of students at Nyack Missionary College in New York

They moved across the states and proclaimed that America needed to return to Christ and live a life of revival and holiness


The Sixth Great Awakening

1945 to1960

Came as a result of and in the midst of World War II

Billy Graham, Rex Humbard, Charles Fuller, Oliver Green, Bob Jones, Jack Wyrtzen


The Seventh Great Awakening

1968 to 1990

Came as a result to the sin and devastation of a counterculture known as the hippie movement of the 60's.

late 60's and early 70's were characterized by materialism, apathy, hedonism, sloth, pride, existentialism, individualism and independance
